IUI (Intra Uterine Insemination), also known as Artificial Insemination, is a laboratory procedure that separates fast-moving, high-quality sperm from slow or non-moving sperm. Around the time of ovulation, a tiny catheter is used to insert this best-quality processed sperm sample directly into the uterus. The sperm travels to the woman's fallopian tube, where it fertilises the egg and forms an embryo. IUI raises the chances of pregnancy by transporting this embryo to the womb and implanting it there. If you've tried for up to 6 months with scheduled intercourse and ovulation induction and are still having trouble conceiving, or if you have polycystic ovaries, minor endometriosis, or a sub-optimal sperm analysis with somewhat low sperm,If you have tried up to 6 months with timed intercourse & ovulation induction, still struggling to conceive or have polycystic ovaries or mild endometriosis or have a sub-optimal semen analysis with slightly low sperm counts, reduced sperm motility or if there is an element of sexual dysfunction, IUI is the way forward.
What is meant by IUI?
The most frequent type of artificial insemination is IUI (Intra intra-uterine insemination). It's a straightforward and safe assisted conception technique that bypasses the body's natural barriers to sperm transit from the vaginal canal to the fallopian tubes. Around the predicted period of ovulation, a prepared semen sample with sufficient quantities of motile, normal sperm suspended in a nutritional medium is directly inserted in the uterine cavity in the hopes of facilitating conception.
